Part of Phase 3 — what we run after the build

Your platform keeps getting better after launch

Most agencies disappear when the project ships. I stick around. Predictable monthly cost, continuous improvement, and a long-term partner who already knows your business.

Where this sits

This is Phase 3 — what we run after the build.

Every engagement starts with Discovery — a brand audit and an ops audit, included, no charge. Phase 1 (BrandFuse) lays the foundation. Phase 2 builds the technology. Phase 3 is where we keep your brand and your systems in lockstep as the business evolves.

Discovery

The chaos state

Most projects end the day they launch

And then your business keeps going. Here's what happens next.

The launch cliff

Your agency hands you the keys and walks away

Six months of close collaboration, then radio silence. A bug surfaces and you're paying $200/hour through a ticketing system. A new feature idea takes 6 weeks of scope-of-work negotiation. The momentum dies the day you launch.

Change order tax

Every small change becomes a project

Want to add a section to a page? That's a $1,500 quote and a two-week timeline. Need an integration tweaked? Another scope of work. The friction is so high that most improvements never happen — and your platform slowly drifts further from what your business actually needs.

  • No hourly billing surprises
  • Direct Slack channel — no ticketing system
  • Same person who built it is the same person who maintains it

Process

How a retainer actually works.

Five steps that repeat every month. Predictable rhythm, no surprises. Same partner, no relearning.

5 phases Monthly cadence Ongoing
  1. 1

    Day 1

    Plan

Monthly kickoff call. You bring the priorities, I bring the technical perspective. We align on what gets done.

  2. 2

    Week 1–3

    Build

Active development on features, fixes, and improvements. Async updates, weekly demos, no waiting for "the next sprint."

  3. 3

    Always-on

    Respond

Bug reports and urgent fixes get handled fast. Direct Slack channel, no ticket system, same-day acknowledgment.

  4. 4

    Week 4

    Review

Monthly recap: what shipped, what's pending, what you spent, what changed. No surprises, full transparency.

  5. 5

    Ongoing

    Repeat

Roll into the next month. Compounding improvements, same partner, no relearning.

Every month

Ongoing alignment between your brand and your systems.

Not a help desk. A technical partnership that keeps your brand and your platform evolving together — ten deliverables, monthly cadence, no ticket system.

Monthly deliverables Tiered pricing Pause anytime
  • Direct Slack/email access (no tickets)

One channel, one person. No support portal, no queue, no "we'll get back to you in 48 hours."

  • Bug fixes and emergency response

Something breaks, we fix it. Same-day acknowledgment, no hourly surcharge, no scope-of-work required.

  • Feature development time

Every tier includes capacity for new builds. Idea on Monday, working prototype reviewed by Friday.

  • Hosting and infrastructure management

Vercel, Supabase, AWS — whatever your stack runs on, we manage it so you never have to think about it.

  • Uptime monitoring and alerts

We know before you do. Automated monitoring catches downtime and performance regressions the moment they happen.

  • Security updates and patches

Dependencies stay current. Vulnerabilities get patched before they become incidents. You're not the one reading CVEs.

  • Monthly planning and review calls

Kickoff at the start of each month, recap at the end. What shipped, what's next, no surprises.

  • Performance and cost optimization

Load times, API costs, database queries — reviewed monthly so your infrastructure cost doesn't quietly compound.

  • Strategic technical guidance

"Should we build this in-house?" gets a real answer from someone who already knows your stack, your brand, and your business model.

  • Hour rollover from light months

Quiet month? Hours carry forward. The value compounds over time rather than expiring with the calendar.

Brand-tech integration

Built on your brand foundation

We don't just maintain code. We maintain the alignment between your brand and your systems. As your business evolves — new services, new audiences, new product lines — we keep the brand and the technology evolving together so they never drift.

Best fit

Who retainers are for

Some clients only need a one-off build. Others need a long-term partner. Here's how to tell.

Custom platforms post-launch

You shipped a custom platform and need ongoing development as the business evolves. Bugs, new features, integrations, optimizations.

Websites that need to stay sharp

Your marketing site is your top sales channel. You need ongoing content updates, A/B tests, new landing pages, and SEO improvements.

Live AI agent systems

AI agents need tuning. Prompts get refined. Edge cases surface. New use cases emerge. Retainers turn agents into a system that gets smarter every month.

Fast-growing businesses

You're shipping new features every quarter, expanding into new markets, or onboarding new client types. You need someone in the loop, not on a quote.

Founders without a CTO

You don't need a full-time technical co-founder, but you need someone who can answer "should we build this in-house?" or "is this the right tool?" — every week.

Continuous iteration > big bang launches

You'd rather ship five small improvements a month than one big release a quarter. Retainers are built for this rhythm.

FAQs

Questions about retainers

The questions that come up most often on discovery calls. If yours isn't here, ask it on the call — the answer is usually "yes, and here's how."

Book a discovery call →
You will. Phase 1 is part of every build engagement — it's how we make sure the technology we build matches the brand it's serving. The form depends on what Discovery finds. If your existing brand is solid, Phase 1 runs in Capture mode (lighter, faster, cheaper). If there are gaps, it runs in Rebrand mode. Either way, you'll know the scope and price before any chargeable work begins.
No. Retainers are also available for existing systems built by other agencies or in-house teams. There's a one-time onboarding fee ($1,500–$3,000) to audit and document your codebase before we start.
In the Grow tier, hours roll over for up to 3 months. In Maintain, unused hours expire monthly (because the value is the safety net, not the hours themselves). In Scale, capacity is reserved either way.
Two options: pull from rollover (Grow tier), or temporarily upgrade tiers for one month. We figure it out in the monthly planning call — no contract amendments needed.
After the 3-month minimum, yes — 30 days notice. If we ever feel like we're not earning the retainer, I'll be the one to bring it up first.
Hosting management is included, but the actual infrastructure costs (Vercel, Supabase, AWS, AI API costs) are passed through to you at cost. We monitor and optimize these every month.
Same-day acknowledgment for everything. Critical issues (site down, payments broken, data loss risk) get immediate response — usually within an hour during business days.
Yes. Many retainer clients have an in-house developer or designer. I slot in as an extra pair of hands or a senior advisor — whatever fits your team structure.
You own all the code, documentation, and infrastructure. When you're ready, I'll spend a sprint doing a full handoff to your team. No vendor lock-in. Ever.

Where we start
